Postojna Cave

Postojna Cave, located in southwestern Slovenia, is one of the most remarkable and accessible cave systems in the world. Carved by the Pivka River over millions of years, this 24-kilometer-long underground wonder is famous for its dramatic formations, vast chambers, and captivating subterranean landscapes. Visitors begin their journey aboard a unique underground train—the only one of its kind in a cave—which takes them deep into the heart of the system. From there, guided walking tours lead through illuminated galleries filled with towering stalactites, delicate stalagmites, and limestone sculptures shaped by nature’s patient hand.
